Mark Gustafson, CFA- Principal

Prior to founding The CAPROCK Group, Mark served as the President of McMillen & Associates. Mark began his investment career as a security analyst and trader for Hewlett Packard's Benefit Fund Investments Department in Palo Alto, CA. In 1994, he joined Porter Capital Management, a hedge fund located in Mill Valley, CA, as an analyst/portfolio manager. He was made a General Partner of the firm in 1996. In 1998, Mark left Porter Capital to start MGC Consulting, working primarily with Hewlett-Packard’s Benefit Fund Investments Department to provide analytical and portfolio management assistance on a contract basis. In 1999, Mark founded Gustafson Asset Management, Inc. with an initial investment from Hewlett-Packard. Established as a traditional hedge fund, the firm specialized in long/short equity investing. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of California at Davis and the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.
